Real Life

July 29th, 2007

jacksonbelle-lcraig-072807.jpg

I set out to play along with jacksonbelle’s challenge for the Dirty To Get Dirty festivities: Black and Brown…I’ll submit this for texasjodylynn’s Bathed in Brads challenge, too!

Over a year ago, a super sweet Dirty Girl with a real love for cowboys sent me some Wild, Wild West images to play around with. This is one from that stash! I colored it in with SU! re-inkers and the aqua painter. The Paisley is stamped in black craft and embossed with detail clear embossing powder, as is the sentiment….’real life’. Everything is sponged lightly in Close to Cocoa. I accented my main image panel with aged copper brads, added a little natural colored hemp and finished it off.

I’ll send this to our good friend, Chase, as this could very well be him any day of the week….‘real life’…working cattle, shoeing horses, riding fence. There are still men living the great Wild West dream.

Dare to Get Dirty & Elegant

July 28th, 2007

easy-elegance-lcraig-072607.jpg

Sharon’s (notimetostamp) known for her elegant, soft style…what a wonderful challenge for her to host!

I have been wanting to use the Thomas Kinkade stamps (Cornish Heritage Farms) that I was so graciously gifted by a sweet friend for a while.

Shimmery white cardstock and some extra work on the ribbons take this up a notch, I hope. The main sentiment is embossed in Chocolate Chip craft ink, then the edges sponged with classic ink. The Merry Christmas is a Fancy Flexible Phrases sentiment off to the side…beautiful set, instant class. I know it’s hard to see in the photo, but anywhere you would see a reflection of light in this painting, I have given it the most gentle brush with my Stardust Clear Gelly Roll pen. Then while the ink is still wet, I smudge it around with my fingertip so you can’t actually see the pen lines, just shimmer.

Thanks for looking!

P.S. I ‘lifted’ the ribbon tying off the end from Michelle Wooderson (she ROCKS!).

Editted to add: This card has been published in the June, 2008 issue of Stamp It! by CK Media.

Artisan Giddy~ness!

July 27th, 2007

daily-notes-lcraig-050507.jpg

Back in March, I spent a lot of time working on my Artisan Award entries. It was a wonderful challenge for me and kudos to all who entered, that in itself was a major accomplishment! I was super excited this morning when I saw that one of my fellow SCS moderators, Belinda King, posted this picture from the SU! Convention Displays…There was my BOX!

I never come up with ‘out of the box’ ideas…so this one was very fun for me. I used the casing to one of SU!’s OnBoard Bitty Albums, turned it up on end and made a little file folder for Mom. The files are for: coupons, gift cards and receipts. It’s decorated in that luscious Au Chocolat paper, ribbons and hodgepodge hardware.

Thanks for sharing my excitement!

Thanks for looking!

Deuteronomy 32:27

genies-sketch-lcraig-072607.jpg

Several months ago, I was chosen (along with another 100+ gals from Splitcoast) to select my choice of sets from Rubber Stamping Fun’s new catalog and test them out. I fell in love with the font on this set of 4 scriptures.  My set arrived while I was on vacation last month, so I’ll be showing you all 4 images over the course of the Dare to Get Dirty challenges this week.

This card was designed for Jen del Muro’s sketch yesterday. To make the verse work, I flipped the sketch to the side. I do love the font on this verse, and I hope that this is a big seller for Rubber Stamping Fun. The group of ‘test pilots’ for this release was asked to give feedback about the images so they can work out any kinks. My only comment would be that the images are not trimmed as closely as I would like, but that was easy enough for me to fix.

You can check them out at Rubber Stamping Fun. I’ll be back later today with more dirty dares, possibly another image from this set. What a fun week! Thanks for looking!

Sharon’s Toile Challenge

July 25th, 2007

sharons-toile-lcraig-072507.jpg

I love toile handbags, wall paper, decor, stamped images….and I loved Sharon Harnist’s Dirty Dare today. This stamp set is actually several years old from Close to My Heart. I masked the ‘Give Thanks’ and stamped the turkey toting dude above it to make it look like one image. This just sparkles on Poison Ivory - shimmery vanilla - cardstock. It’s done in a Really Rust monochromatic scheme so I can mail it out at Thanksgiving. I embellished it with dyed Elizabeth Fibers (a favorite thing!), Primas and pearls from my new SU! Pretties Kit!

You up for a dirty dare? Check this out: DEETS! Still 6 days left to play! Thanks for stopping by. I’ll have more tomorrow!

Dirty Dawg Dare….

annas-sweet-dare-lcraig-072507.jpg

One super sweet Dirty Girl was the first to kick off a solid week of stampin’ challenges and chatting dirty girl style. This is my card for Anna Wight’s challenge. Personally, I felt I had to use a WhipperSnapperDesigns stamp for this challenge. Sniffs of Spring is one of the few WhipperSnapper stamps that I own that was NOT originally created by Anna, herself.  He’s colored in with prismacolor pencils and gamsol.

I’m not going to write much about the specific challenges to these cards, but you can check the SCS homepage for the deets if you wanna take a dirty dare…do ya?

Christmas in July!

July 24th, 2007

cmas-in-july-lcraig.JPG

Merry Christmas!

It’s July 25th, and I bought several Christmas presents while I traveled with family this past weekend! I thought it most appropriate to share a little project that I finished before I left using an adorable $5 Christmas Candy Cane set from smARTrubber. The thing I just love about smARTrubber is the affordable pricing on unmounted rubber images. (And, don’t worry, affordable pricing does NOT mean it lacks quality - only deeply etched rubber from them so far!) It’s so smART!

This card uses Real Red and Shimmery White cardstock, Real Red classic ink and plenty of Dazzling Diamonds to make those candy canes glisten. I used my small SU! corner rounder and a Marvy punch to create all the scallops. Accented it with the paper piercer from the tool kit and a little May Arts ribbon and 2 Real Red brads…it’s ready to go. One down….99 left!

It’s almost time ….do you dare get dirty? ……stop by later today!

Blog Braggin’

July 20th, 2007

districts2.jpg

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run,  but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as  to get the prize.       I Corinthians 9:24

I’m going AWOL for a few days, a little family R&R, but wanted to leave you with a milestone of my summer. What’s a blog if  you can’t brag on your kids once in a while?  This is my oldest Ashley waiting to compete in the 25 meter breaststroke at her district competition this week. She competed in 4 events, medaled in the breaststroke and freestyle and took 4th in her team relay event.  Yep, I’m proud, and she’s all MINE!

I won’t be gone too long. Wednesday is the big kick off to the Dirty Dare (read about it here) over at SCS, and you won’t want to miss it. Guess you could say I am resting up for a mega-stamp fest like you have never seen.

See ya Wednesday!
