My friend, Sharon is the guest hostess for the Splitcoast Color Challenge today! Good times! You can see the challenge directions (including substitute colors if you lack any of these) by clicking this link. The challenges are a wonderful way to stretch your brain and do something out of the ordinary! You can see Sharon and Jessica’s samples by clicking their names.
The colors were taken from a make and take that we received while at the Portland Regional 2 weeks ago. Good times, Good times! Purely Pomegranate, Soft Sky and Basic Gray. Since I only had 1/2 sheet of Basic Gray (quick, tell my husband there is something I hadn’t (note: past tense) ordered!) I tried to be pretty careful about how I used it. I now have this card and lots of gray slivers all over my desk.
Normally, I wouldn’t put the gray on top of the card for fear of making it ‘top heavy’, but in this case, I left a small sliver of white at the top fold and added the Paisley Background and some dotted organdy ribbon to soften it up. The flowers from Happy Harmony are one of my favorite Sell-A-Bration set images of all times. Watercolored a bit around the edges of the Nestabilities frame with Soft Sky and an AquaPainter.
One other little chuckle to share: I was trying to finish this up and get the photo loaded in the wee hours last night. I usually name my cards something pertaining to the card or for the person..not like I talk to them or anything..just a file name or something to chat about here on the blog. So, I thought, ok, Gray Skies..that’s good..then after I was done with the file, I remembered that I intended the card to be a wedding card and had already stamped, ‘congratulations’ on it. What a terrible thought for surely a happy time. So, I might have to detour from my originally tended purpose, I’ve ruined the happy thoughts on this one!
Thanks for looking! Don’t miss me tomorrow ~ someone you know is the guest writer for this week’s Weekly Inkling tutorial….hmmm, I wonder…..
