I don’t know that I have ever had the opportunity to load 2 different cards for a SCS Challenge, but stampowl’s gallery of inspiration was just overwhelming yesterday. So many ideas and things I’d love to try. The layout of this card just blew me over. Thanks for looking!

FS: Thoughts of You
November 11th, 2007
Sundays rarely permit me time to stamp, but we got up extra early at the Craig house today. I had time to get this pretty much done before church. This is my contribution to the Featured Stamper Challenge today at SCS. My inspiration was taken from this card in stampowl’s gallery.
It was fun to use a brand new Kim Hughes set, Silhouette Blooms I from Cornish Heritage Farms. The flowers are gorgeous, and the fonts are beautiful and classic. This will be getting lots of use in the coming months.

Opening Day
November 10th, 2007

And there came a voice to him, saying, ‘Rise up, Peter, kill and eat’. ~ Acts 10:13
Sound the trumpet! Fire the first shot! It’s Opening Day! Back in September, I shared this quick CHF project with you that I would give Wes today, Opening Day of deer season. (Capitalized because it is a national holiday here.
) You just didn’t know it was Biblical, did you? Check it out, tis true.
This is Wes and Ashley as they went to ’scout’ last weekend. It’s one of their favorite father~dauther activities. Ashley has been scouting with her daddy for deer, duck and geese since she was still in diapers, seriously. It brings them both great joy. And while, hunting season gets a little long for mom on the home-front, that bond brings me greater joy.
Praying for safety for all of our hunters, big and small.
WSC27: Faith Sings
November 9th, 2007
Here is a quick card that I put together for Beate’s Sketch this weekend. I scrapped the original at the last minute, so this was literally a 15 minute gig. The images are from Smart Works and I just love the simplicity of the images and of course, the words.
We had family night last night at our house. We went to Applebee’s for dinner and then watched “Meet the Robinsons!” It was a wonderful time with our girls. The message of this sweet, secular story ‘keep moving forward’ reminded me of this phrase, “Faith is the bird that sings when the dawn is still dark.” I don’t want to get all cliche and preachy because this is as much for me as anyone else, but if you are facing a tough time, remember to ‘keep moving forward’. It’s faith in the tough times that really brings peace to our hearts and gives us an appreciation for what we’ve been through when the rough patch passes. Peace, my friends.

Holiday Happiness

I got another Nordstrom catalog in the mail last week. Gorgeous cover!! (I haven’t even made it past the cover to see the inside yet!) I used that cover and some Figgy Pudding paper (I got mine here!) to create this card. I love the festive ‘pop’ of the birds against the night Christmas sky.

Happy Birthday, Pa!
November 7th, 2007
Happy Birthday to my sweet father-in-law today! My daughter and I made cards on Saturday and popped them into the mail so they would arrive ON-TIME! Can’t tell you the last time that happened. I am going to have a new found love in my WhipperSnapper stamps with these Copics. The wide open space and clean lines make them wonderful coloring images. This image is by a favorite WSD artist, Shelly Cominsky. The ‘file folder’ was left over from another project and stamped with the Wood Grain Backgrounder from Cornish Heritage Farms.
My 7 year old, Ashley has really gotten into watercoloring with dye ink and an AquaPainter. She did a few images a while back that we never did anything with. On Saturday, she wanted to send ‘Pa’ a birthday card all on her own. She really loved this lion, King of the Jungle, another Shelly ~ WhipperSnapper Stamp. I am thrilled with her watercolor because this is only the 2nd time she has tried it, and she wasn’t looking at anything as a color guide (not even the stamp label). Notice her shadowing and image outline. She grounded the image and added a flower. It’s going to be fun as my girls mature, and we are able to share paper crafting. (Note: We had a long talk about those Copic markers…she understands they are OFF LIMITS. I am a meanie-mom!)

Room With a View
November 6th, 2007

He changes times and seasons ~ Daniel 2:21
I live in a historic, victorian home surrounded by large trees. I’ve complained (to anyone who will listen) all summer that the lighting is less than ideal for blog fodder photo sessions. The best light in the house is in my 2nd story bathroom. As I was photographing some projects to share, I couldn’t help be struck by the view today. Thank you, Lord for the gifts you give us in every season.
Kim Hughes: Sweet Thang
November 5th, 2007
Sketch Challenge 147 proved to be just the ticket for some left over scraps from a stampfest, at my very own stamp table! (I’ve saved this post a few days, so it never got posted in the challenge gallery.) I was just itching to get inky with some brand new, sneak peak rubber designed by the fabulous, Kim Hughes. It’s called Sweet Thang and what a treat, in deed. You’ll find it for purchase on Tuesday at the Farm! The little scallop in the right hand corner is one of those dreamy Cami-Mint Patties. You can find more blah, blah on that at her blog, Stamp a Little Love, Baby!
