The CHF Chicks are posting their first of many Monday challenges today. This weeks focus is flocking powder. I thought I’d take a chance to make a masculine card since I rarely do that, even though the Rummage Bin line makes it easy. This horse is from the For the Men set at CHF. You can see fabulous samples from these talented CHF Chicks: Julia Stainton, Lesley Langdon, Kristine Reynolds, Alli Miles, Dawn Lusk, Sherrie Siemens, Lisa Silver, Julie Campbell, Kim Hughes and Lisa Strahl. I really do love working with this oh-so-talented group of ladies. Check them out!

If you are flock impaired…here’s a tutorial for you! The fabulous Kristine Reynolds has obviously had formal flock training! Glad I found her tutorial.. :)

No Spring Skips it’s Turn

March 30th, 2008

no-spring-2-lcraig-033008.jpg

Spring is coming… I just looked at the 10 day forecast, and if they are right, we should be above freezing from here on out! Finally! This flower from the Lizzie Anne Designs Far East set is perfect for me! I have a watergarden that blooms the prettiest lilies in June. Right now it looks more like THIS. I had to laugh when I read that linked post from March 2007. Last March, I was lamenting that I wanted that quote in red rubber. Lizzie and Anne were so happy to ablige with Say it in Script, and this spring it’s all mine! Thank you, Lizzie Anne!

WSC41: Yummy Stuff

March 28th, 2008

yummy-lcraig-032808.jpg

Last weekend Mom made chocolate chip cookies, special for the grandkids because she wasn’t sure that they would like the ‘adult dessert’ (cinnamon swirl cake). So today, the girls are sending her a little thank you with some photos from the family festivities. Beate’s sketch and a new Kim Hughes set called Baked with Love (available next Thursday) for today was just the ticket!

Own Elvis’s Guitar!

March 27th, 2008

pick-case-lcraig-32608.jpg

Yes today, you can own Elvis’s Guitar without shopping eBay or making the trip to Graceland! The guitar image is new from CHF. My daughter, Ashley is FOREVER losing guitar picks (I couldn’t even find one for the photo shoot! LOL). I am hoping this little altered tin will help her keep track of them, as it is the perfect size to slip into her case or sit on her dresser. I kept it very basic because I didn’t want anything catching or ripping off, she’s not the most gentle 7 year old on the altered objects, if you know what I mean.

  • Stamps: Elvis’s Guitar & All Shook Up - Cornish Heritage Farms

  • Cardstock: Georgia Pacific White

  • Ink: Rasberry, Shell Pink & Black Adirondack

  • Accs: Daisy D - rub on tapes

Thanks for stopping by. :)

‘Beautiful’ Baby Boy Box

March 25th, 2008

beginning-lcraig-031808.jpg

I was looking for a cute baby boy shower-giftable-type project when I saw this post on Beate’s blog a few days ago. I knew this concept combined with the Storybook Stamp Set would be perfect for what I wanted to make, a little miniature journal so to speak for the baby’s first year. I also wanted to be able to stick a few small things in the pouch - like those little business cards that they give you each month with the babies height and weight. The baby is a BOY, but the nursery is in a cream and earthy toile, so I thought this would coordinate nicely.

editted to add: When I first started this post, I was thinking that I had used Lesley Langdon’s “BEAUTIFUL” stamp set to make this box. I’m not in the habit of calling my own work ‘beautiful’! I’m having a good laugh over that this morning. I hope you enjoy it anyway.

beginning-2-lcraig-031808.jpg

I started out with a 4.25″ x 12″ piece of cardstock. Then I scored at 5″, 5.25″, 10.25″ & 10.5″ to create a little ‘box’. I stamped and embellised the front cover and flap, then stuck 6 business sized envies (sealed, folded in the middle and then the ends chopped off) in the center. These form the ‘pockets’. The little journal cards are made from some library cards that I had in my stash. Each one is sponged and stamped with a number one - twelve. Some of the months are words and some of the months are numerals. The front flap tucks in behind the scalloped circle.

  • Stamps: Storybook - Rummage Bin & Paisley Backgrounder - both by Cornish Heritage Farms

  • Cardstock: Tawny Medium Prism, Cryogen White

  • Ink: Espresso Adirondack Dye

  • Accs: Library Card, Nestabilities, Ribbon, Lace & Buttons

Double Take

March 19th, 2008

sketch-owls-lcraig-030308.jpg

I thought I’d share 2 cards with you that started with the same layout, cardstock and stamps. I had lots of fun with these cards, and contrary to my normal mode of operation - I HAVE EVEN USED ONE OF THEM! <gasp!> Oh the thought! Major confession: I am terrible about getting cards in the mail.  I keep planning to get better…I do!

If you have found spring in your neck of the woods, pease send it my way. It rainy and that miserable wet-cold here, but I’m focused on the fact that it has to warm up soon. . . right? This is the March Stamp of the Month at Cornish Heritage Farms, Grunge Flower and Bloom with Abandon.

I’ve had this monochromatic, 4 panel idea in my head for a few days. It turned out a little different than in my mind, I’m sure that never happens to any of you. :) I think I’ll send this to a girlfriend who might be having issues with growing children. On second thought I better save it, as I could actually send this message to myself 3 times a week!  I’ve combined Lesley’s new Sweet One Collage, Sophisticated Swirl Backgrounder (upper right), Victorian Leaves Backgrounder (lower left) and Pretty Pattern Backgrounder (lower left). The sentiment on the lower left comes from the Little People Collage.

Sweet eP Friends

March 14th, 2008

wedding-lcraig-121307.jpg

What a treat to be the eP friend today. I have *known* Joy Kennedy, eP c0-owner, for several years. I’ve always admired her stamping talents in a swap group that we both belong to and her business savvy approach to securing the most ‘hip’ stamping tools. For example, several years ago, Joy (joyofstamping) was the go-to girl for rubi-coils when everyone had to have the rubi-coil binder. I have oodles and oodles of colors & sizes thanks to her efforts to bulk buy and distribute. I was super excited when she joined forces with Daisy Sparks (laterdais) to open what you know and love as eclectic Paperie.

eP always strives to carry the hottest new stamping and scrapping items, and they put their crafter’s heart into their business with special promotions (many of which come with a small hand-stamped token of appreciation) and wonderful customer service. It’s been delightful to watch their business grow and to be able to build a friendship with both to these cool chicks on my SoCal trips in the last year.

Of course, one of my favorite things at eP is their line of Lizzie Anne Designs stamps. This card is with the Gettin’ Hitched set.  With 2 posts this morning, I’d better get to the laundry, but if you got a little time, check the chicks at eP and see the fun stuff that’s ‘in store’ for you!

Cardstock: Cryogen White & DCWV - Posies collection patterend paper

Ink: Palette Burnt Umber - Stewart Superior & Brilliance Pearlescent Dew Drops
