‘Beautiful’ Baby Boy Box

I was looking for a cute baby boy shower-giftable-type project when I saw this post on Beate’s blog a few days ago. I knew this concept combined with the Storybook Stamp Set would be perfect for what I wanted to make, a little miniature journal so to speak for the baby’s first year. I also wanted to be able to stick a few small things in the pouch – like those little business cards that they give you each month with the babies height and weight. The baby is a BOY, but the nursery is in a cream and earthy toile, so I thought this would coordinate nicely.

editted to add: When I first started this post, I was thinking that I had used Lesley Langdon’s “BEAUTIFUL” stamp set to make this box. I’m not in the habit of calling my own work ‘beautiful’! I’m having a good laugh over that this morning. I hope you enjoy it anyway.

I started out with a 4.25″ x 12″ piece of cardstock. Then I scored at 5″, 5.25″, 10.25″ & 10.5″ to create a little ‘box’. I stamped and embellised the front cover and flap, then stuck 6 business sized envies (sealed, folded in the middle and then the ends chopped off) in the center. These form the ‘pockets’. The little journal cards are made from some library cards that I had in my stash. Each one is sponged and stamped with a number one – twelve. Some of the months are words and some of the months are numerals. The front flap tucks in behind the scalloped circle.
