If your adult Sunday school curriculum comes from Lifeway, your lesson this morning was the start of a month long focus on building relationships that matter. We spent a lot of time this morning talking about concern, contribution and gratitude. One of the suggestions in the teacher guide was to take paper and envelopes and have class members write a quick thank you note to someone they are grateful for. Well…do you think I could take plain white paper and envelopes???? I love it when stamping and church collide.

So we were getting ready to go this morning, and I had my little shoebox ready, complete with a man and a woman project. Wes looks at the box and says, ‘you did a make and take for Sunday School, didn’t you?’ Yep! Sure did! Since we team teach the class, he wasn’t at all surprised. There were about 20 in our class today and every single person made and wrote out their card. (Well, except for Chris who stole my sample! LOL! - I’ll forgive him!)

These little shimmery notecards and envies are something that I always keep on hand. I get mine from CutCardstock. At 3.5″ x 5″ they are the perfect size to recreate this wonderul idea that I stole from my stamping buddy, Stefanie several years ago. With a specialty paper and simple handwritten sentiment, they are just perfect to say, “I care. Thank you. You are special to me.”

Cindy at CutCardstock was sweet to send me some Shimmery (Poison) Ivory notes and envies to share. Leave me a comment between now and Tuesday - tell me who you need to send a thank you note to and why. I’ll draw for a winner and send these out on Wednesday morning.

All stamps are Cornish Heritage Farms - Silhouette Blooms & CHF Wheat. Have a wonderful evening.

I just love that “…when stamping and church collide”! No better place to share your God given talents!
I need to send a thank you note to my friend Bevie who calls me almost daily and leaves me a funny voicemail on my cell phone. She knows that when I turn my phone on at the end of my work day I need some humor! Makes me smile and giggle every time!

I love that you had such a purposeful use for your thank you cards. Some girls in my bible study are actually getting into cardmaking because I can’t get enough of it myself. I need to send them all a card–they are there for me each week, they hold me accountable, and they make me smile.

  4. Nicole Says:

Beautiful! What a great story - ministry can come in so many different ways!

Your cards are always beautiful. I need to send a special thank you to my husband for putting up with my family and taking such good care of my mother when I’m not available. Mom was 88 this week and she’s a very special person who still lives in her country home with her dog!

  8. Amy Says:

What a fabulous lesson–one that probably bears repeating, too. Maybe on a daily basis :-)

I need to make a thank you card for a new friend who sent me something very thoughtful in the mail…

And thank you for all the great inspiration you share with all of us!

  9. Sharon in NE Says:

My sister-in-law,’Retta. Although my brother died as a result of cancer, my sister-in-law has been so faithful in her walk with the Lord and remained an integral part of our family. Her courage, strength and testimony is so incredible and I should tell her how thankful I am for those things and for her love.

  10. Pat Woodruff Says:

I need to send a thank you for being so strong card to my mom. She is going through chemo and it is so hard on her but she takes it all in her stride.

  11. Melissa (SCS: stampin_melissa) Says:

What a great lesson! I am usually good about sending out the usual thank you cards, but I would like to do more to my girlfriends for all the “little” things they do, especially during this time while my DH is gone to a military school for 10 weeks. Thanks for the inspiration.

    Your cards are so beautiful!

  12. jami Says:

Oh I love it! But of course you did a make’n'take! of course! I need to thank my friend Darla - just for being a blessing.

I need to send a note to a teacher that I work with—she’s leaving and I need to remind her how much she’ll be missed. I also need to thank her for teaching my daughters and tell her again what a positive influence she has been on them.

my list is so long..starting with a Thank You God, for giving me a wonderful family, health and happiness! I am so blessed!
Next, my Mom and Dad (I actually did this on the weekend)they celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary and are a true example of living a good christian life, and setting a path for us to follow.
Thank YOU…for being so generous with your talents, and your gifts…Blessings…Rebecca

  18. Stacy Says:

I tend to send more thank you’s than any other type of card I make. A thank you card is going out to a good friend who allows me to borrow her stamp sets whenever I want…she’s got a lot of them!
I love your blog and your Tyson the Turtle card from a few weeks back was the most adorable card I’ve seen in a while.

  19. Stefanie (ssummerer) Says:

Oh Lori, I love your cards! Right now I have a huge thank you list from my son’s baptism 2 weeks ago. I need to get cracking and make about 25 thank you cards. I also should send a thank you card to our pastor for doing such a lovely service and being so patient even though my son screamed through the entire thing. He’s usually such a happy baby too!

  20. Trish D Says:

Wow, those cards are simply wonderful! I need to send out TY’s to some dear friends. Our family has been through some pretty crazy stuff these past few months, and our friend really are more like our family. What a blessing to have people like that in our lives… and I want to make sure they *KNOW* that they are appreciated!

  21. Melissa Says:

I agree that it’s an added bonus when church and stamping collide - I do card ministry cards, and they are so rewarding!

I just had a birthday and need to get my thank you notes out! Especially since my rule is that I can’t use a present until I’ve sent a thank you - and I got TWO cute purses that I’d love to put to use. :)

  22. Michelle Says:

I was raised by a mom who believed in the hand-written thank you, and I am grateful she taught me the importance of them. I’ve been writing a lot of thank yous lately following my birthday and my recent new job and relocation to a new city. I still have a few people left on my thank-you list, including my cousins who got me some fabulous birthday goodies. I’ll be making some more thank you cards tonight! Thanks for the shot at winning, Lori!

I need to write a thank you note to the guy who organized the investors forum we spoke at this weekend. He helped us make $30,000 in a few hours and really worked hard. Great man, and a Southwest Airlines pilot. I should have already done this today but I haven’t.

  28. Pat Martin Says:

The card ministry for our church is my balliwick, but I think that our Pastor is due for a Thank You card for the blessing that he is to our Fellowship — he is sooooo gifted in teaching and giving and never thinks of himself first. I have been inspired by your Divine Design monthlies, and intend on making some of these for friends for Christmas this year — thank YOU for the idea and for the inspiration!

  29. Dawn Says:

My mom needs a thank you. Too often I assume she knows how much I appreciate her - I should make her a thank you card every single day!

Lori, thank you for sharing your talent and inspiration!!

Love all of your Elvis cards!

    Lori

  32. Cheri Mosgrove Says:

Hi Lori! This is an easy question for me to answer right now! We just had a round of the stomach flu go through our house. . . all four of us at the same time. Ugh. Needless to say, cooking or even thinking about food was not on the top of my list! Then one afternoon, after the stomach flu was near the end and we were all starting to think that maybe we would like a little something to eat, my friend calls and asks if she could bring dinner over. Wow! She took the time to make a casserole that was delicious but easy on our stomachs and nothing ever tasted so great! Needless to say, she deserves a BIG thank you card!!!!

  33. KJ Says:

Great story & “wonderful” lesson!!! I’m so “grateful” to you for always sharing and passing along your inspiration!!! :-)

ONCE A YEAR ALL THE FEMALES IN MY FAMILY GET TOGETHER FOR A WEEKEND. WE GATHER SOME PLACE DIFFERENT EACH YEAR AND DIFFERENT RELATIVES ARE IN CHARGE EACH YEAR. I NEED TO SEND A THANK YOU NOTE TO MY COUSINS FOR AND AWESOME WEEKEND.

  36. Janet Sisk Says:

Well, Mother’s Day is coming up so I would like to say I will thank my step-mother. My biological mom died when I was 9 and my dad remarried fairly quickly. My step-mom had a lot of hurdles to jump over trying to blend our two families. We all turned out okay and I really think that she is a big part of that. Thanks for reminding me of that.
