Today is Your Day!

Here’s a quick card that I created for the Perfect Layers Product Focus at Splitcoaststampers.  Perfect Layers are acrylic layering guides to help you create different size matted layers for your images. The thing that I really like is that my image gets set down on the cardstock that I’m going to use as a mat and then trimmed all the way around, with a perfectly centered main image and even layered mat. (I used my old Creative Memories cutting mat and a cutting knife.) It was easy after I watched the video, and they are a real time saver because you don’t have to do math – especially for odd size mat layers.

I have a date with my husband tonight for a hospital benefit dinner and auction. We are going with friends, and I’ve been looking forward to that. I hope it’s a good hair day! 🙂

See you Sunday!

The Sky’s the Limit

The CPS Sketch was fun this week. I created my card yesterday between basketball games. My daughter’s tournament is home this weekend, and that meant a 5 minute ride over to the courts vs. an hour away. I could easily jet back and forth from the house.

The {Stamps} of Life were our gracious sponsors this week, and I adore this set, Kites2Fly. I paired it with Picadilly paper from Basic Grey and some sweet little cloud dies from MFT. Ink is Mix’d Media Truffle from Clearsnap.

If you find some time to sketch along with us, make sure and enter at the CPS Blog, you could win a prize from The {Stamps} of Life.

After church, I’ll be watching a lot of basketball today. My daughter has two games and then I’ll be watching Kansas in their Elite Eight game against North Carolina! Go Jayhawks! Squeezing in dinner with a friend from out of town. It’s going to be a beautiful day! Thanks for stopping by!

Your Friendship…

It’s FRIDAY! I’m teaching a Standard Certification for Copic Marker today in Phoenix. I’ve been looking forward to that. I booked the trip for spring because I always get the winter blues, but we’re well into spring in Missouri that the winter blues are GONE.  Mild temps. Trees and flowers in bloom. It’s been just lovely. None-the-less, glad to be in Phoenix today!

This is my sample for Taylor’s Sketch Challenge. The sketch was drawn by the fabulous Jen Shults (another Show-Me stamper that I got to color with one night last week at Archiver’s!) I used papers and embellishments from my Taylor’s Kit of the Month. Loved the full pad of 6×6 Echo Park paper that’s been in the last two month’s kits. This month it was from the This ‘N That Graceful line. The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions stamp set, Rosy Posey. I love how everything just coordinates for easy stamping.

I’ll be flying home tonight, and I’m going to miss most of the NCAA Sweet 16 game between North Carolina State and the Kansas Jayhawks. Here’s me cheering for a Jayhawk victory!

MIA Comeback: CPS Sketch & a Winner

Apologies for a little hiatus the last week or so. Several family concerns had come about and my focus was needed elsewhere. Things are good here on the home front, but there are a few things, believe it or not, that just won’t wait while I make a card and type a blog post. <grin>

I did enjoy this weeks’ CPS Sketch Challenge. I paired it with one of my favorite Whiff of Joy images, Sweet Cake and some delicious ribbon from our CPS sponsor this week, Really Reasonable Ribbon. What’s not to love about ruffled, gingham chocolate ribbon? Seriously! Check the sketch and link us up to your post. You could win some yummy ribbon from our sponsor!

And, I owe you an apology for the delay in posting my Copic Coloring Guide winner from last week. The winner of my autographed copy is Sue O. I have her email address, and I’ll contact her for shipping info. Thanks so much for all of your sweet notes and entries. I do love your feedback.

I’m heading to Phoenix in the morning to teach a Standard Copic Certification on Friday. Marianne is meeting me there so that she can teach the Intermediate class on Saturday. Should be a great, quick trip!

I’ll be back Friday morning with a sample for Taylor’s Sketch Challenge!

Have a beautiful day!

You Color My World

I love this little Copica girl from Saturated Canary, and I had a fabulous time coloring her Friday night while I watched the saddest of sad games in the Big 12 basketball tournament. When it became too much to bear, I switched over to my DVR’d episodes of American Idol since I missed it this week while in St. Louis for a few Copic classes. (I {heart} Skylar Laine and Phillip Phillips on AI ~ I hope they continue to give Jessica Sanchez a run for her money…she’s amazing!)

Yesterday after selling Girl Scout cookies at the Wal-Marts, I worked on my sketch card for CPS this week. I just imagine that little girl coloring and doodling up a storm with her Copics and thought that the bright Picadilly paper was a fun match.

We’re springing forward today with a morning of worship and then some quality family time with my parents to watch my oldest play basketball this afternoon. The weather for the next 10 days looks fabulous, and my daffodils are blooming. Hope that things are springy in your neck of the woods!

Have a BEAUTIFUL Sunday!

Adhesive *WINNERS*

I really loved reading your comments about when you purchased your first Copics. It’s no surprise to me, that many of you (just like me!) can pinpoint the exact moment that you first touched them (Portland, OR – October, 2007) and knew you wanted some. LOL… Thank you, Sharon Harnist and Joy Kennedy.

In no particular order,  here are my X-Press It adhesive winners (btw, I had to chuckle when I saw Carol’s name come up as one of my random numbers when I was counting – looks like we found Copic the same way, just a different girls’ trip. That Joy…appropriately named, she spreads it, that’s for sure. LOL!)

I just recently started “collecting” my markers when I saw all the wonderful cards ppl were colouring which revived my interest in my first love, stamps. I got 3 markers at the first copic class I took back in January and now I have 77!

Oh my, I had to really think about this because it seems like I’ve had my Copics for ever, but I think it has to be 6+ years ago? Joy Kennedy came to our girls retreat (she was selling them at eP) with a duffle bag full and got us all hooked. My “collection” has grown substantially since. LOL

Congratulations to the new team members. Super exciting!!
I bought my first Copics in 2010 and I bought the sets of Earth tones, Pastels and Brights. I was disappointed because I couldn’t get ANY of those colors to blend. It wasn’t until I started to learn, that I didn’t have ANY color families. I had to build my collection around those sets. Needless to say, I now have almost all the colors and am VERY happy with my Copics. I have taken classes from great instructors and I color daily now!! Thanks for the chance to win!

Please send me your addresses, and we’ll get the foam adhesive sent out to you!

I’m still taking comments on my Copic Coloring Guide 2 give away. You have until Friday to enter that one! Good luck!!

Copic Coloring Guide 2 – Another Give Away

Good morning and welcome to a very special blog hop!  I am excited to share that the new Copic Coloring Guide, Level 2: Nature from Annie’s Attic is now available.

I’ve included a sneak peek at one of my favorite projects in this book, Cheery Wishes! The sweet image is called Peonies from Lockhart Stamp Company. Peonies are my favorite garden flower, though I’ve never cut them for an indoor bouquet.

Authors Colleen Schaan and Marianne Walker have partnered up again to bring you a quality publication. From the introductory suggestions for creating a Copic journal and tips for working with digital images, to explanations of advanced blending techniques and detailed tutorials for coloring specific objects, the book presents useful information in an easy-to-follow format.

Each participating designer is hopping today to give you a peak at their favorite project from the book – and a chance to WIN your own autographed copy! Please comment on this post for your chance to win your copy of mine!  Commenting will be closed midday Friday, March 9th. I’ll announce a winner on Saturday morning.
Can’t wait for your copy?

Copic Coloring Guide Level 2: Nature is now available at many stamping and scrapbooking stores. It is also sold through the Annie’s Attic catalog, accessible online at AnniesAttic.com.

Good luck!

Announcement & Copic Giveaway (this means FUN!!)

What a fun day! The Copic family would like to extend a very warm welcome to new design team members Cindy Lawrence and Michele Boyer!

Both of these Splitcoast Dirty Girls love their Copics and are amazing artists! (I hug them both when our crafty paths cross, and they’re so sweet to boot!!)

You’ll want to be sure to visit their blogs for fabulous Copic inspiration and give them a warm welcome, too, as they each have one of these fabulous Copic All-Marker carrying cases (markers not included) TO GIVE AWAY!!

CopicFullColorCase_Open_3

And that’s not all . . . each of the rest of the Copic team members also have giveaways posted on their blogs.  Here’s what the rest of us are giving away — a brand new product from Copic, introduced at the Craft and Hobby Association show a few weeks ago: X-Press It High Tack Foam Mounting Tape:

High Tack Foam Tape

It’s available in 2mm thickness and either 1/2” wide or a unique 1/4” width (It think this width will be great for shaker cards)! This is a perfect dimensional foam tape for all of your projects. Here are some of the highlights:

  • A very high tack/adhesive — means this stuff isn’t going anywhere. I’ve been using it for quite a while, and it holds so well.
  • The white protective liner is very easy to peel off.

This fabulous new tape should already be in stock and available from your favorite Copic retailer .

For your chance to WIN one roll each of the 1/4” and 1/2” tapes, just leave your answer to this question below in the comments:

“When did you purchase your very first Copic Marker” OR any suggestions you might have for Copic (they’ll be reading!).

Leave your comment by next Monday evening, March 5 and I’ll have Random.org choose THREE lucky winners to be announced on Tuesday morning!  (Contest is open to winners in the US and Canada, as we only have distribution rights for those areas).

Be sure to visit each of these Copic design team members, for chances to win on their blogs, too . . . Good luck! A few of the ladies will be posting tomorrow, so be sure to check back. 🙂
