Beate’s BACK, Baby!

mocha-mini-lcraig-082208.jpg

It was so fun to stamp for Beate‘s Sketch challenge yesterday. It’s been a long summer, KWIM? šŸ˜‰ You can see Beate’s Sketch here, and I hope you find time to give it a whirl this weekend.

Extra celebration in order for my friend, sweet Kim Hughes. So very excited to see patterned paper added to her line at Cornish Heritage Farms. This is MochaChica paper, accented with a sweet little birdie and ‘hello’ from the coordinating mini set of the same name. These little birds are great because they are facing mates to all those adorable Pretty Birds. Branch from Kim’s Landing Pad set. Little nest made from a Prima Hydrangea.

I’m going to check out other samples from Cambria Turnbow, Charmaine Ikach, Jenn Balcer, Laurie Schmidlin, Mary Jo Albright and Sharon Harnist. Then I’m going to can some salsa…. Have a wonderful day!

Here’s a ‘stamped for fun’ card that I worked on this week. It was so fun. About 2 years ago, I received a card (that I have lost and cannot remember who sent it to me) that featured this stunning grid work on the main panel. Then, this spring, Beate created a tutorial to show how easy this Grid Technique is in a Weekly Inkling tutorial. (Do you get your Inkling weekly? ;)) Solid images work will for this technique, so I pulled out Kim Hughes, Silhouette Blooms.

I have been intrigued by so many of the beautiful butterfly projects that I have been seeing lately. I hope that this black beauty is the perfect accent.

  • Stamps: Silhouette Blooms, Everday Petites – both from Cornish Heritage Farms
  • Cardstock: Super Smooth White Prism, Black Prism and Baby Blue Frost Prism
  • Ink: Aspen Mist VersaMagic Chalk & Black Adirondack
  • Accs: WeRMemory Keepers hardware, Making Memories ribbon, Scor-Pal, Martha Stewart butterfly punch and black glitter, paper piercing template and piercer, Nestabilities and tag die by Spellbinders

Beate is BACK! I’ll be here bright and early tomorrow morning with my take on her weekly sketch. It’s been a wonderfully long summer, and we’re excited to get back in action. See you in the morning!

Whoot! Whoot! Who RAY!

Whoot! Whoot! Who RAY!

I got a package from Liz at CHF yesterday containing Ms. Kim Hughes new scrapbook papers, Mocha Chica. They are a perfect reflection of Kim’s whimsicial, adorable coordinated style. I was really excited to hold them and feel the weight. They are single sided and sturdy. Perfect for 4″ square cards! They’ll be available this Friday (with another coordinating stamp set!).

There are two packs of these papers, patterned (mocha chica) and the coordinating ‘layer’ paper in solid shades with faint patterns in the print. The ‘WHO’ was stamped on a piece of solid green paper from the coordinating layers pack that matches the green leaf. I’ve covered much of this with a Spica clear glitter pen for pop. The owl was colored with Copic markers and accented with glitter, as well. The ribbon – a perfect match IMO, is from Taylored Expressions (summer cottage).

Since school is officially back in session, I’ve got a lunch date with a friend, so I guess I should hop to it! See you tomorrow ~

  • Cardstock: Suede Dark Brown Prism, Mocha Chica & Layers – Cornish Heritage Farms

Miss You Butterfly

miss-you-butterfly-lcraig-080508.jpg

When I was playing with that Jenni Bowlin butterfly chipboard a few days ago, I used it for a template to create a card before I covered it for my initial project. This is just a piece of ivory cardstock, cut to a butterfly pattern and then covered with October Afternoon – Good Cheer – Sugar Cookie paper. The edges are chalked for a little bit of depth and the Kim Hughes sentiment stamped (and covered with Spica Glitter Pen for shimmer). Buttons are from foof-a-la!

Thanks for looking and have a fabulous day!

Proud Eagle

america-lcraig-070208.jpg

I almost called this post ‘missing mojo’, but that’s not really accurate. It’s just been so busy around here. Between swim meets, work and prepping for CHA, it’s been pretty busy. And of course, this is the first weekĀ the girls are home from summer school. A whole new daily dynamic.

When we moved to Marshall a few years ago, the Fourth of July became my favorite week of the summer. We have created some fun traditions for our family, and we really look forward to them.Ā Our favorite is the neighborhood parade on the morning of the Fourth. I’ll have to post pictures for you this year. Wes and the girls started pulling our ‘float’ together tonight. šŸ™‚

Here’s a little ‘simple stamping’ Happy Fourth, Kim Hughes for you. I love this ProudĀ Eagle image. He’s so handsome, standing tall! Tomorrow brings another new release for Kim and it’s Christmas in July at CHF. You are going to FLIP when you see her adorable Christmas images. One set is called Heart Warmers, the other is Christmas Critters. The thing I really like about Christmas Critters is that many of the images have year around appeal. See you soon – I’m gonna try to stamp another before bed tonight.

  • Cardstock: Suede Light Brown, Cryogen White, Mystic Dark, Blush Red Dark

Ranger Paint Dabbers

paint-dabber-tutorial-lcraig.jpg

I was putting some supplies away this morning, and I realized that I never shared this card and tutorial with you on my blog. This is a card I created for a tutorial at CHF a few months ago. I love the Ranger Paint Dabbers because you get a really thick color lay with them. This pearl is my favorite. You can see the entire tutorial for Paint Dabber Resist HERE.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Paradise (and a winner) Found

miss_you_lcraig_052808.jpg

Two quick cards tonight that feature the Kim Hughes, Paradise Found stamp set that was released last week. If you are working with your church’s Vacation Bible School this summer, chances are pretty good your theme might be Outrigger Island from Lifeway. These images are perfect for postcards, invites, snack picks, favors or a stamped craft.Ā

There are line art and silhouette images in this set, making it an easy choice for kids. Speaking of kids, I have that issue of Paper Crafting with Kids to give away. I read through all of the responses. They were great! So many good ideas to tell a child, ‘hey, you’re special to me! I hope you have fun with this!” Kim Leach had a fabulous, fabulous idea:

My favorite gift to give is a ā€œspy kitā€ using a simple plastic ā€œschoolā€ box with a handle and adding cool looking sunglasses, magnifying glass, small steno book, pencil, a washable ink pad and index cards (for fingerprinting of course!) disguises {mustacheā€“sometimes the groucho marx glasses come attached:), hat, clown makeup, etc} and a wallet badge I make using black CSā€¦Prism would give it the perfect leather feel, wouldnā€™t it?ā€¦ I use the computer to print their name and official-looking graphics; I cover it all with some contact paper (to make it flexible and easy to ā€œflipā€ openā€¦ā€Detective Leach here. I just have a few questionsā€¦ā€ The badge takes the longest but itā€™s worth it!

My son is 22 and STILL has his wallet badge and glasses (with airplane propellersā€¦great disguise!) He used that thing to death!!!

What a great mom!! And what fun, fun memories. Kim, send me your snail mail, and this PC issue will be heading your way! Thanks for all the time that you gals took to share some of your favorite things. I know you have been a real blessing by sharing these gifts with the kids in your life.

Ā Tomorrow, I’ll be posting my Divine Design card for the month. I’m a tad anxious to see what everyone else has come up with this month. See you in the morning!

Little Birdie Told Me

khc03-lcraig-060708.jpg

The Kim Hughes Blitz continues at CHF this weekend with lots of fun cards and prizes. Today’s challenge is about using any Kim stamps with wings. I thought this would be fun to send to some folks who are expecting for the first time.Ā I love my Kaiser jewelsĀ these came from a sweet friend for my birthday, but their available fromĀ eP…they come in a whole rainbow of colors, and who doesn’t think of their pending arrival as precious jewels?

khc03b-lcraig-060708.jpg

The colors a little washed, that happens at 6:40 in the morning, but here’s a closer look at the detail on the main panel. Love how I could make this coordinate with my new K&Company Berry Sweet paper. I’m hoping to look at more new stuff from CHA releases when I hit Archiver’s tomorrow afternoon.

Busy, busy day around here. The library is having a ‘pounding’ – not this kind of pounding, but the kind where they bring in a whole load of wood and nails and let the kids have at it with hammers…The hammers are on the kitchen table, and the girls have their clothes picked out already. šŸ˜‰ After that, we have the wedding that I made the card for yesterday and then a baptism for my niece tomorrow. It’s gonna be a special 48 hours. Hope your weekend will contain some memory making material, as well.

Ā Blessings ~

Kim Hughes Thank You and a Give Away

giraffe-lcraig-060506.jpg

I owe a sweet family a thank you for something very nice that they have done for me lately. This little giraffe and butterfly areĀ from Kim’s new Baby Love set. CHF is hosting a Kim Hughes Blitz thru Sunday, and this card fits the Limited Supplies challenge (cardstock, stamps, ribbon & buttons only).

pretty-girl-lcraig-060506.jpg

Yesterday, I received my complimentary copies of Paper Crafting with Kids from Paper Crafts. I had 2 projects published in this issue. The idea was to find projects appropriate for children to make or give as gifts. Lots of fun ideas to share paper crafting with your kids!

This little set of colored pencils was one of my projects. I made a simple box with Cryogen White cardstock and the Geometric FlowersĀ II Backgrounder from CHF. Wouldn’t it be sweet with some simple line art stamped notecards? What’s your favorite thing to give a child for a simple birthday or thinking of you gift? Leave me a comment with your answer, and on Sunday, I’ll pick a winner and mail out one of my extra copies.Ā  Have a great day!

Rock Star

rock-star-lcraig-052808.jpg

My oldest nephew turned 12 this month. This is a slight variation of the card I sent him. I love that Kim Hughes images work for any age, any gender.

I had trouble photographing this at first because there was loose glitter all around the keys on the guitar. (Are those frets?) Finally, I took a toothpick and brushed away the excess glitter..much happier now.Ā  Thanks for stopping by.

  • Stamps: Supah Star by Kim Hughes for Cornish Heritage Farms

  • Cardstock: My Mind’s Eye (OK! I’ll burn what’s left!! or at the least put it away!!), Suede Dark Brown Prism, Teal Prism and Cryogen White

  • Ink: Adirondack Espresso & Tsukineko Glue Pad (solid color under your glue image REALLY helps the finished look of your project – I learned the hard way)

  • Accs: brads, chocolate glitter and stamp-a-ma-jig (MUST HAVE tool for me)
