a FABULOUSLY Fun Fall at Splitcoast

Greatful_Heart-FallidayFest-Lori-Craig

For the last six years October has been my favorite crafty month because our Splitcoaststampers community has come together for crafting fun in a large special event with challenges, prizes and crafty chit chat. This October, the name of the event and the focus have shifted, but I can’t be more excited. Welcome to Falliday Fest!

You really do not want to miss out!

This is for my first challenge that I’m hosting today … May your joy….

I recently went on a tear and ordered several different wheat themed stamp sets. It seems like fall is a great time that we think about wheat and harvest. The irony is that most wheat is harvested in the late spring/early June. Just a bit of trivia…

This set is called Grateful Heart from Papertrey Ink. I’ve used a clean layout and stamped on Shimmery White cardstock for a little punch. I’ve also kept it fairly flat so that it’s easy to mail.

So, be sure to check out my challenge – and all of the others. We have 10 days of crafty goodness ready to go. Your November self will sing your praises when you do!

Dare to Get Dirty – Do ya?

It’s time for the Dare to Get Dirty challenges at Splitcoast. What is DTGD? Check out the info here, and plan to join the fun all this week at Splitcoaststampers!

I had time to stamp today, and it was heavenly to wade through some new stamps and papers that hadn’t yet gotten the attention they deserved.  This first card was for Kim Teasdale’s Sketch today. I used Bubbly Fun Fhiona from Your Next Stamp and my DeLovely Paper from Cosmo Cricket. Letters are from Cosmo and the flower embellishment was crocheted by me at a swim meet sometime in the last year. That’s what I do at swim meets. :) Fhiona was colored with Copic marker, the whole thing was stitched together – hoping that I didn’t run out of white thread before I got to the end of the card & I didn’t – and then accented with a glitter pen to make her bubbles and tub shine.

The second challenge that I created a card for today was super quick and fun – Ryann’s challenge: Embrace the White Space.  On My Couch Additions from Papertrey Ink and a black Copic Liner pen. Done. :)

I’m hoping to play at least 2 challenges each day this week. Tonight I’m off to the rodeo. Good times.

Set aside some time to stamp. Check out the DTGD challenges. See you tomorrow!

JiFFy Girls: Fall Mums

img_0254.jpg

Just for Fun – I’ve been holding on to this project for a few days.  Every month, I participate in a friendly little challenge, just for fun, with my girlfriends Alli Miles, Julie Campbell, Kim Hughes and Michele Boyer. One of us picks an image and one of us picks patterned paper for all to use. It’s always neat to see how everyone’s mind works just a little bit differently for several cool card ideas. This month, Julie selected Autumn Abundance for us to work with, and Alli mailed everyone this delicious paper from My Mind’s Eye, Colorful Christmas. Fun stuff!

I colored my mum image with Copic Markers (BG10, BG11, Y38, YR09, YR16, YR31, G82, YG93, YG95) and added a little bit of glimmer with a Spica Glitter Pen. I used an airbrush with Copic YR31 to create the back glow to the mum image. The ribbon along the bottom was ruffled by making a loose stitch with my sewing machine along one edge and gathering the ruffles together. You need to start with a length of ribbon about 1 1/2 times the finished size. Button and twine finish it off. The cardstock is Suede Dark Brown from Prism and Flame StarDream Metallic.

I hope you have time to check out the other JiFFy projects. I always enjoy them. Have a great day!

Enjoy the Ride

I was talking to sweet Alli Miles (i love this girl!) the other day, and the subject of masculine cards came up. We decided to give that an impromptu whirl, and this is what I came up with.  It ended up being perfect to work around the masculine thing with the June release Key Ingredient kit from Taylor. (Sadly, I went to get the link, and it looks like this particular kit is out of stock.) But, I love having the papers, ribbons and embellishments from these kits all together. It’s too easy.
