Just for Fun
January 22nd, 2009
Since I left my design team commitments back in the fall, I have missed challenges with my DT friends. I like trying to work within the perimeters for a specific project (I find it can be a little stressful, but I usually end up trying new ideas!), and I love seeing what everyone else comes up with!
I’m posting a little ‘just for fun’ challenge card that I created yesterday. A few of my stampy friends decided we would use a darling little Whiff of Joy image that we all love, Willow with Hot Chocolate. Then, just for kicks, Carole Burrage sent each of us a few little snippets of this designer paper from American Crafts to work with. I’m excited to check out what she, Michele Boyer, Alli Miles and the beautiful Julie Campbell came up with. They’ll have darling samples, for sure.
Technique Lover’s Challenge: Out of the Box
January 12th, 2009
I made some time to stamp this morning. I had wanted to do the Whiff of Joy sketch challenge, but then I saw Lynn’s SCS Technique Challenge and thought I’d pair the two. Lynn’s challege was to create an orgami box. You can see the directions and PDF template HERE. I actually needed a little box like this (explained below). I used Cosmo Cricket’s Chemistry Paper. I got mine from Sweet Lindsey at Jacksonbelle Embellishments. The box is approximately 5″ square and 2″ deep. The instructions were easy-peasy and it can be made with 2 sheets of 12×12 cardstock.
Last week I missed my monthly book club lunch due to a last minute conference call. I also had completely forgotten that I had volunteered to bring dessert this month. I had made this big production (I know, my real-life friends are having trouble understanding that I would make a big production out of anything!?) My poor, poor book club lady friends - they had no dessert last Wednesday. It never even occurred to me until Wednesday night on my way to church that I had left them high and dry without chocolate. I feel terrible. My solution is to take each of them some chocolate chip cookies sometime this week. Now, we’ll see if I can actually get it done… but wouldn’t this box be so cute with the Willow with Cookies stamped image?
Remember the weekend shopping trip I was so pumped up for? It was a fabulous day! I got the best piece of furniture for my stamping room, as well as some cool organizational stuff. The furniture comes tomorrow via Daddy’s Delivery!! (I live so far out in the boonies - the mailman is the only one that delivers here <eyeroll>) I can’t wait for Mom & Dad to pull up and unload the pickup truck. I have another piece that won’t be here until Friday, so hopefully over the weekend I can show pictures of my space. I promised that months ago, but honestly it’s such a weird space and nothing has seemed to work, thus far. I’m so excited to see it all pull together and share because I think it might work for several other addicts out there!!
I need to get back to work. Thanks for stopping by!
Prayers & Chocolate
November 12th, 2008
Prayers and chocolate sometimes go hand in hand, don’t they? Here’s a Whiff of Joy image (Willow with Chocolate) that I worked on when I was having Marianne help me achieve the ‘blue jeans’ look. After coloring her jeans, I simply dabbled the colorless blender over the denim to give it a faded, washed look. Next, I cut the image with my Curved Rectangle Nestabilities, added bling to her slippers and some buttons. The sentiment is from SmartWorks. When it was all said and done, I used a clear gel pen from Sukura to cover the cookies. It gives them a glossy dimensional look.
Speaking of Whiff of Joy, when I went to grab the link, I noticed that Katharina has some new items in the store…be still my heart…SNOWPEOPLE! So darling! Need to grab me some of those.
In case you are wondering, these do ship from Sweden. I think my initial order arrived in 5 or 6 days. Speedy quick!
I’ll be checking back in with you tomorrow. Hope you have a fabulous day!
- Stamps: Willow with Chocolate (Whiff of Joy) & Prayed for You (Smart Works)
- Cardstock: Blush Red Medium, Mystic Blue Medium, White (Prism)
- Ink: Espresso Adirondack (Ranger)
- Accs: Copic Marker & Spica Glitter Pen, clear glaze pen (Sukura), buttons (foof-a-la), bling (Mark Richards), Curved Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders)
World Card Making Day
October 4th, 2008
Happy World Card Making Day!
I’ve been up since 5 am, and have this little ditty to show you. (I have another project that I love, but I need to photograph it (and the kids want breakfast!) So, here’s card number one: Wishing you Hope, a second Whiff of Joy image and Verve Stamps sentiment! I just adore these Guardian Angel images. Paper is Honey Pie from Cosmo Cricket, and accents are Build-A-Brad and ribbon from Stampin’ Up! I have a few more images that I’ll share over the next week. I have to stop coloring and start the assembly process!

WSC60: Whiff of Joy
October 3rd, 2008
It’s Friday! And, you know that tomorrow, the sweet husband is taking the girls to a soccer tournament! I’ll be doing laundry all day today so I don’t feel guilty for sitting at my stamp table all day long tomorrow! Lots of fun challenges and contests going on for World Card Making Day.
About 2 weeks ago, I learned about a new-to-me stamp company called Whiff of Joy! I immediately took a liking to their darling images, especially this one. My 8 year old *loves* cocoa, even in July. I knew she would like this sweet little girl.
If I could give a shout out for Katharina, the owner of Whiff of Joy! She provided excellent customer service and super fast shipping. I had my order in 5 days FROM SWEDEN, girls! These stamps travelled all the way around the world just so I could play. I know she has some more images coming, so be on the look out for them! They are deeply etched and stamp beautifully.
Hey, by the time you check out Beate and the other sketch challenge samples, your order will be here!
See Cambria, Charmaine, Jenn, Laurie, Mary Jo and Sharon for serious stamping. I know you’ll be inspired. Have a wonderful weekend!
- Stamps: Willow with hot chocolate (Whiff of Joy) and sentiment is from Smart Rubber
- Cardstock: Suede Brown Medium & patterned paper from SU!
- Ink: Espresso Adirondack (Ranger)
- Accs: Copic Marker, ruffle ribbon (May Arts), stitched ribbon & mini brown brads (American Crafts)
