If friends were flowers…

wsc032009.jpg

My simplified version of sweet Cami-licious’ Weekend Sketch. Isn’t this a fun layout? Cami rocked it. Beware – the squares are smaller than they appear. 🙂 This card was super-sized to 6×4 when I realized that my squares wouldn’t fit on an A2 cardbase. I’m fine with that.

The image and sentiment are both from Anna’s collection at Whipper Snapper Designs. The strip of cut ring was made with my Hello Kitty Ribbon die, coming soon from Sizzix.  Third flower pot colored with Copics, paper pieced with Basic Grey paper and accented with a Spica Glitter pen.

I’m gonna check out the other ‘girl friday’ friends, and then I’ve got plans to see some of my oldest friends this weekend, and I couldn’t be more excited. Check out: Cambria, Charmaine, Jenn, Mary Jo, Laurie and sweet, sweet Sharon.  I’ve got to get a move on the Friday work schedule.

Make Me Smile

Some quick little notecards to send to a few people in town who bless my life. This little bee is from the set, Little Critters, by Whipper Snapper Designs. I colored him with Copics, put crackle accents and a little dazzling diamond glitter on his wings. I love to do that with bees.

These are one panel for a short note. The patterned paper is Urban Prairie from Basic Grey.

I’m finishing up some deadline work and ‘nailing jello’ today – that’s what I call housework. As soon as you get one thing done, someone is coming along right behind you to undo it… It’s like nailing jello to a tree!  See you tomorrow for the Friday Sketch Challenge.

Have a great day!

WSC70: Forever Friends

 forever-friend-022709.jpg

I enjoyed today’s sketch. You can see it on the post below this. I’ll be mailing this card out today to one of my dear, forever friends.

I started with my new sets from Whipper Snapper Designs, Wildflower Silhouette and Friendly Expressions. Woo-hoo, Anna! They are gorgeous! I stamped the flowers with Distress Ink from Ranger – Broken China, Antique Linen and Brushed Cordouroy. I knew I wanted to match up with the felt bird and patterned paper from Anna Griffin. The lace border in Tawny Medium Prism was created with my Hello Kitty Decorative Strip Dies. I love that they are 12″ and fun patterns.

Make sure to check out my girl friends’ samples. I know you’ll love their ideas! Check out Beate, Cambria, Charmaine, Jenn, MaryJo and Sharon.

We’ve got some fun things in store this weekend including a visit with out of town friends, a fun fundraiser for our YMCA tomorrow night, a baby shower for some friends, a community Shrimp dinner…I think I’ll need another weekend starting on Monday! Have a good one!

Just For Fun: bluebell BITTYBLOOM Bella

jff-0209a.jpg

Say that 3 times fast! It’s time for another Just For Fun challenge with my partners in crime:  Michele Boyer, Carole Burrage, Julie Campbell and Alli Miles. Everyone starts out with the same main image and patterned paper (two 1/4 sheet pieces – no room for error! LOL!) This month, it was Julie’s turn to pick the patterned paper: Girl Friday from Cosmo Cricket and Alli picked this darling Stamping Bella image: bluebell BITTYBLOOM.

jff-0209c.jpg

I colored my bluebell with Copic Markers (R37, YR14, BG72, YG95, E00, R20 and W1) and then sponged Antique Linen Distress Ink from Ranger on my edges with Cut & Dry Foam.  You can find Copics and the Rangers items I’ve used at Ellen Hutson.  When I was done coloring, I added some shimmer and glitter to bluebell’s blouse. The glitter is Butterfly Transparent from Art Glitter.

A new shipment of WhipperSnapper arrived here today, and I couldn’t resist one of Anna‘s gorgeous sentiments from the set, Friendly Expressions. It’s stamped in Rich Cocoa Memento and highlighted with a Clear Spica Glitter Pen.

jff-0209d.jpg

I stacked a few Prima Flowers and added a button. I’ve been using ZipDry a LOT lately on embellishments like this. There is some room to move while you are laying your card out, but once it’s dry – zippy quick – IT’S STAYING PUT.  The smaller rhinestones are Taylor Twinkles from Taylored Expressions.

I hope you enjoy the Just For Fun samples. I think it’s great to see what everyone does with similar supplies and color schemes. This was fun. SO, fun that I’ll spread the joy. Leave a comment to say HI, and I’ll pick a winner on Friday morning to send this stamp from Stamping Bella to. Have a great day.

Play All Day

So, I said I would be hanging out and taking it easy this weekend – that’s exactly what I did today! Other than getting the girls a haircut this morning, I was at my desk and paper crafting away. 🙂 This is a WhipperSnapper image that I purchased last year. We are yellow lab people…I only wish our Walker would sit so still and cute like this one! He’s only 20 months old, and he’s got a lot of puppy left in him. This image is only one of several things I’ve gotten colored today. I’ll be working on more cards on Sunday, but I wanted to get this up before I headed off to ‘girls night’ at my friend’s house 2 doors down.

Stamp It! Give Away

believe-lcraig-111307.jpg

I found the latest issue of Stamp It from Paper Crafts and CK Media on my doorstep last Friday. I was very excited to have several projects published here, a real honor considering the Splitcoast Rock Stars and Dirty Girl representation in this issue.  There are cards for almost every holiday and occassion in these pages.

This is one of my projects in the issue. The santa image (WhipperSnapperDesigns) was one that I got in an image in a swap with my Portland Pals when we all traveled to Portland, OR back in October. I came home and colored Santa with Copics and glittered him in all the right places.  I loved how this came together with non-traditional Christmas colors.

The sweet folks at Paper Crafts sent me an extra issue to give away, as well! So, leave a comment here, and I’ll choose a winner tomorrow afternoon and send this out on Wednesday morning.  If you want to look for this issue locally, it’s a bargain at $5.99 US, and can be found in even the most remote Wal-mart stores or probably your local grocery. Thanks for letting me gush!

Happy Birthday, Pa!

frank-bday-lcraig-110307.jpg

Happy Birthday to my sweet father-in-law today! My daughter and I made cards on Saturday and popped them into the mail so they would arrive ON-TIME! Can’t tell you the last time that happened. I am going to have a new found love in my WhipperSnapper stamps with these Copics. The wide open space and clean lines make them wonderful coloring images. This image is by a favorite WSD artist, Shelly Cominsky. The ‘file folder’ was left over from another project and stamped with the Wood Grain Backgrounder from Cornish Heritage Farms.

My 7 year old, Ashley has really gotten into watercoloring with dye ink and an AquaPainter. She did a few images a while back that we never did anything with. On Saturday, she wanted to send ‘Pa’ a birthday card all on her own. She really loved this lion, King of the Jungle, another Shelly ~ WhipperSnapper Stamp. I am thrilled with her watercolor because this is only the 2nd time she has tried it, and she wasn’t looking at anything as a color guide (not even the stamp label). Notice her shadowing and image outline.  She grounded the image and added a flower. It’s going to be fun as my girls mature, and we are able to share paper crafting. (Note: We had a long talk about those Copic markers…she understands they are OFF LIMITS. I am a meanie-mom!)

  • Stamps: WhipperSnapperDesigns, CHF, Lizzie Anne (You ROCK!) and SU! Stamp of Authenticity

  • CS: Curious Iridescent White , Stampin’ UP!

  • Ink: Palette Burnt Umber, SU! Real Red – various dye inks for watercolor on the lion

  • Accs: Copic markers, Brads – American Crafts, Ribbons – Stampin’ UP! and Nestabilities

Grandpa’s Hay Hook

 haybale-1a-lcraig-102007.jpg

Until 2004, I was blessed to have a relationship with and love all 4 of my natural grandparents. That February, I lost my grandpa…. Baling and hauling hay are part of  my earliest memories of my grandpa’s life. His hay hook now hangs on a shelf in my ‘studio’ (term used loosely). It reminds me of hard work and love.

When I saw this Anna Wight Whipper Snapper stamp, I knew it would be mine. Though my grandpa produced square bales, the image takes me back to young summers at the farm. I would stand on a chair at the kitchen window to catch a glimpse of the tractor & hay wagon on the hill, the smell of alfalfa in the air… I miss my grandpa.

This came to me when I was thinking about the Queen’s Fan Club challenges this month. The theme is Autumn Harvest. If the link doesn’t work for you, you need to sign up for the Fan Club by clicking here first! So timely, since corn was harvested about a month ago, and now our fields in Central Missouri are littered with large round bales. It’s so pretty to see the changing seasons from a field’s perspective. Back to the card….the sentiment is hand written.

  • Stamps: Hay Bale by Anna Wight for Whipper Snapper Designs
  • CS: Daisy D, watercolor paper, Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip & Ruby Red
  • Ink: Palette Burnt Umber – various dye inks for watercolor
  • Accs: linen thread, aged copper brads, Prima flowers, sponge daubers, aqua painters (various sizes)

Dirty Dawg Dare….

annas-sweet-dare-lcraig-072507.jpg

One super sweet Dirty Girl was the first to kick off a solid week of stampin’ challenges and chatting dirty girl style. This is my card for Anna Wight’s challenge. Personally, I felt I had to use a WhipperSnapperDesigns stamp for this challenge. Sniffs of Spring is one of the few WhipperSnapper stamps that I own that was NOT originally created by Anna, herself.  He’s colored in with prismacolor pencils and gamsol.

I’m not going to write much about the specific challenges to these cards, but you can check the SCS homepage for the deets if you wanna take a dirty dare…do ya? Â
