Opening Day

Sound the trumpet! Fire the first shot! It’s Opening Day! Back in September, I shared this quick CHF project with you that I would give Wes today, Opening Day of deer season. (Capitalized because it is a national holiday here. 
) You just didn’t know it was Biblical, did you? Check it out, tis true.
This is Wes and Ashley as they went to ’scout’ last weekend. It’s one of their favorite father~dauther activities. Ashley has been scouting with her daddy for deer, duck and geese since she was still in diapers, seriously. It brings them both great joy. And while, hunting season gets a little long for mom on the home-front, that bond brings me greater joy.
Praying for safety for all of our hunters, big and small.

So *that* is why Dad said his hunting on Sunday mornings with his brothers was a religious experience? LOL! All kidding aside, your picture just makes my heart MELT, Lori. Look at that love just beaming from both of them! Wes, hope you bag a big one!

BTW, my brother & dad always went out like this (and still do when my brother’s available!), and would always stop for a special breakfast of Big Red & beef jerky. I haven’t thought of that in YEARS!

Lori, love the photo! As a hunting widow myself I look forward to the day when my childen can go out with Daddy! It’s more of a holiday season than just a day. . .right?

What a great photo and a wonderful tradition. She’s going to have so many happy memories of the times she spent with her father. I was raised with a father who loved to hunt, mostly deer. I learned to shot at a very early age. Neat to see her by her dad’s side.

OMGoodness, what a sweet photo, Lori! Ashley looks so cute in her camo overalls! Gosh, she’s the spitting image of Mom!

Oh yeah, TOTALLY a holiday here in MO! When I was in school we actually got off the whole week for deer season! no kidding!
We have camo in a range of sizes here and it works out great because when one outgrows it the next is in line waiting for that size LOL

I gotta tell you, I love the little goodie bag you made him. It’s super cute! I’ll have to start making my hubby and son one of those come next year, since Opening Day already came and gone. My daughter will be hunting with them next year. Although she’s ready to give it a go now…. her and her pink gun…lol
I love seeing them doing their favorite thing together. They always want me to go with them, but ol’ mom isn’t into all that. That’s their thing. My thing is sitting right here at the house being crafty.
